ABOUT US

A community
shaped by faith
and lived values

Faith at our centre. Belonging at our heart.

We are a faith community shaped by a simple but enduring idea — that faith is something to be lived.

For generations, our community has believed that when people practise their values side by side — with trust, acceptance and respect — they do more than strengthen one another. Together, they help create a more thoughtful, caring and responsible world

We are a people-centred community, grounded in faith and guided by values that place responsibility, integrity and care for others at the heart of everything we do.

Who we are

Our community today

We bring together people of all ages and backgrounds. Some members come from long, multi-generational Templer families. Others are newer, drawn by our values, approach to faith or sense of community.

What unites us is a shared commitment to live thoughtfully, act responsibly and support one another through all stages of life.

TEMPLE [Tempel] + SOCIETY [Gesellschaft]

Our name comes from the German Tempelgesellschaft. It reflects our core belief that each person — individually and together in community — is part of a living temple expressed through shared faith and purpose. This understanding shapes our commitment to dignity, respect and the inherent worth of every person.

Curious about our name?

We’re not defined by buildings, hierarchy or doctrine. We’re defined by people.

LIVED VALUES

Faith in action

Faith is lived through everyday choices — in how we treat others, serve our community and act with integrity.

FREEDOM OF BELIEF

No fixed creed or dogma

Each person is free to reflect, question and grow in their own understanding of faith and spirituality.

working together

Strong community life

Community is central to us because we believe faith is not meant to be lived alone, but alongside others.

OUR PURPOSE

"... treat others
as you would
yourself."

Our purpose is grounded in Jesus’ call to love God and love your neighbour. From this flows our values of trust, respect, acceptance and community. We live these out together in practical ways — in how we treat one another, how we take responsibility and how we contribute to the world around us.

Here’s how our values show up in everyday life:

We create space for reflection, questioning and growth, and encourage people to live their faith through everyday actions and integrity.

We welcome difference and respect diverse perspectives, experiences and ways of believing. Everyone is valued and encouraged to belong as they are.

Our community spans generations and life stages, offering continuity, connection and shared experiences that help people feel grounded and supported.

We act with care and compassion, providing practical support and standing alongside people and communities when it matters most.

We carry forward Templer beliefs and traditions while living our values in today’s world — thoughtful, relevant and grounded in purpose.

The people who guide and grow our community

We are supported by a Board of Directors, Faith and Spiritual Elders, staff and a wide network of volunteers. Together, they care for the spiritual, practical and organisational life of our community.
